Loft Restoration

This was a ground up rennovation that turned what used to be an early 1900's veterinary stable, into a beautiful 1600 square foot loft home with single car garage.

The focus of the interior was to re-use as many of the original materials as possible to preserve the history of the building. Hand railings fabricated from original structural beams and floor joists accent hand finished pine flooring and a custom made hemlock staircase. The main floor boasts laminated red oak countertops, century pine wainscotting, custom-milled pine shelves and white ash flooring, along with hand made trim throughout. Black wrought iron fixtures, structural supports and bolts were used, to add to the historical feel.

The landscaping was done with the interior in mind, and so the use of natural stone and timber was ideal. Retaining walls made from treated hemlock timbers capped with white cedar planks, are trimmed with large pieces of local limestone, adding garden space, as well as rounding off the natural grade of the property. Cedar decking and a poured concrete driveway, also trimmed in hemlock, are finished with a river rock french drain to accent the use of limestone in other areas.
