An addition to an existing poolhouse, this outdoor shower area was constructed out of western red cedar. The goal was to create enough privacy from neighboring homes for showering outdoors, while maintaining an open view of the sky and forested area behind the house. The structure itself is an open pergola style, built around an existing tree to allow a large limb to grow through the open roof. A muskoka bench adds a sitting area, as well as blocking the line of sight to the neighboring yard. The outer edge is trimmed with a lap-jointed cedar privacy screen inlaid with hand cut glass panes and wrought iron panels for extra privacy. A shade garden was added to bring the surrounding woods into the shower area.
